November 2023 Edition
Independent filmmakers are making quite a splash this year. As writers, directors, and film screeners for some prestigious and highly competitive film festivals, we can tell you that independent filmmakers have really stepped up their game. With COVID putting a damper on filmmaking in 2020, filmmakers are back at it and film submissions are at an all time high for many festivals. Filmmakers are ready to tell their stories. We are following several short films as they enter different phases of the filmmaking process. Let's introduce you to some of them now.
Classic
Writer/Director: Michelle Kaumeyer Hoffman
Pre-Production
Classic, is a short film that follows a young woman's journey as she copes with the death of her reclusive, yet, beloved uncle Joe. Joe never married, nor did he have children of his own. The one thing that mattered most to Joe was his car. Everyone around Joe knew this, but Jennifer saw a different side to her uncle.
As Jenn struggles to deal with her grief, she unexpectedly finds comfort in the classic car her uncle loved so much. The car becomes a healing reminder of the memories they shared. Classic is a film about family, love, loss, and finding a way to move on.
