4 Effective Social Media Integrations That Can Help Your Website

Letting your website visitors know that you are active on social media is an excellent way to increase your social media reach and even send positive signals to your website visitors, potentially increasing trust and even conversions.

When choosing the right type of integration for your website, consider these four popular and highly effective approaches.

1) Adding Social Media Icons

There are many types of social media integrations you can add to your website's landing pages, but there's one, in particular, that is likely to fit any business and website design; these are social media icons. Icons typically link to your social media profile pages.

These are usually best placed on your website's header or footer section - allowing your website visitors to always see them without being overly intrusive. Most CMSs such as Wordpress, Wix, or open-source platforms already offer a social media module or plug in that you can easily add to your site. This small impact can make a huge difference in building credibility for your products or services. Facebook and Instagram are a must, and if you are managing other social handles on TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, or LinkedIn, be sure to add those, too!

2) Integrating Social Media Sharing

You may also consider adding social media sharing to allow website visitors to share certain landing pages or products on their social network. You can add these to specific pages that have engaging content, like blog and event pages. You also have considerable flexibility in adding these. You can choose to add them at the top or the bottom of your content (or both). You can also add them as a fixed widget or "floaters" on your sidebars so that they are always visible.

However, these "floating" widgets may pose usability issues for your mobile users, so if you take this approach, make sure you disable them on smaller screen sizes. For this same reason, it is good that you keep them as part of your content.

3) Turning on Image Galleries and Live Feeds

Suppose you have a brand that has visual products, such as an eCommerce store. In that case, you may consider integrating an image gallery that is updated dynamically as more content gets created on your social media profile. This approach will allow you to have your content and even user-generated content get automatically added to your website; this can be especially useful if you have an Instagram account.

The homepage is a great place to add these types of live feeds; make sure you place them well below the fold, closer to the footer. This approach allows for more conversion-focused content to be displayed first.

4) Utilizing Social Media Single Sign on and Login Options

Another great way to integrate social media on your website is to allow users to sign up and also login using their social media accounts. This method will enable them to quickly access your website if they have an active session on their social accounts.

If you take this approach, please allow your visitors to still sign up or login using the standard login method, requesting an email and password. A large number of people may either not have social media accounts or prefer using this method.

Consider these Integration Tools

There is a vast array of choices regarding how you want to add these integrations to your website. You can hardcode them onto your HTML or use a plugin, which is typically the fastest and most reliable way to do it.

Popular and effective options include AddThis and Shareaholic. If you have a WordPress website, check out this post by WPBeginner.
